This Christmas card shows a wintry scene of a late Victorian English village. The leafless trees have partly shielded the ground from the light dusting of snow; the frosty earth under the trees is visible. Houses, each with individual construction and facing, are topped with chimneypots suggesting the warmth inside. At the end of the street stands the slender spire of the village church pointing upward. Inside the card is a quote from A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, and "Merry Christmas" in green letters with red capitals.
The quote reads, "They walked along the road; Scrooge recognising every gate, and post, and tree; until a little market-town appeared in the distance, with its bridge, its church, and winding river."
